Has anyone ever complimented your booger-picking skills? or How fast can you drink water without drowning yourself? No? Good me either. Some things we should keep to ourselves, right?
What about the good kind of flaws? The one’s that we developed over our life experience here on earth. The mark that makes us unique & individualistic. The one’s that we can’t shake no matter what affirmation or ritual we try. It seems to always stick with us, am I right? That my friend is no longer a flaw, it's a feature. According to dictionary.com, A feature is a distinctive trait or a special attraction.
So how come no one ever says “ your stubbornness is your best feature”?The human brain is naturally wired to fix or readjust something to its liking. It’s very unlikely people will see your flaws as distinctive traits or special attractions. That’s why it's our job as souls living a human experience to do it ourselves. We can’t wait around for people to see the best version of ourselves. We have to do the dirty work on our own, so finally how do you turn your flaws into features you might ask.
Start with your biggest “flaw” and ask yourself why this specific thing makes you unique. Figure out why people view it as a problem but you view it as a part of who you are. I’ll go first, my biggest feature or flaw as they say is my “moodiness”. I know I don’t think it's a flaw either but people can view it as a sense of interchangeability or downright inconsistent. I view it as feeling every emotion that flows through my vessel. We as humans should be allowed to experience our emotions without judgment. I’ve decided to embrace that part of myself instead of trying to be perfect or someone that’s apathetic.
I love my moodiness and how it makes me unique. I decided to embrace every mood with love & understanding. Ever since I accepted my moodiness as one of my best features, I’m more aware of it when it happens. I take accountability for my emotions & apologize if I offend anyone with my unpredictability. I am who I am & being moody works for me and my soul family. So instead of being around people who are quick to uncover your flaws, immerse yourself around individuals that appreciate your authenticity.
I would love to hear your thoughts. What is your best feature?
